Code of Ethics Code of Ethics DPAW will determine the criteria for becoming a volunteer and/or foster home. DPAW will decide which dogs will be fostered and select the foster home for each dog from a pre-approved list. I may refuse any request for fostering a Doberman for any reason. I may return any Doberman to DPAW for which DPAW has asked me to provide care. I will be informed by DPAW of any medical or emotional conditions the Doberman may have, based upon information provided to DPAW by the former owner or animal shelter/humane society Although DPAW takes reasonable care to screen the Dobermans, it makes no guarantees relating to the Doberman’s health, behavior, or actions. DPAW may need to euthanize a Doberman that I have cared for or have otherwise worked with as a volunteer if the Doberman becomes sick or exhibits behavior problems making the Doberman unsuitable for placement as a companion animal. DPAW retains ownership of all rescued Dobermans, whether or not in foster care, and will make all final decisions regarding the adoption or euthanization of Dobermans being fostered. I am expected to return any Doberman in the program to DPAW upon request and not to promise said Doberman to anyone or imply that I have the authority to approve a potential adoption. All adoptions will be approved by the DPAW Board of Directors. I will have an opinion on the best placement for any foster in my care. When fostering a Doberman, I am taking on a responsibility that may run few days to several months. Dobermans I have contact with through DPAW that are unaltered will not be used for breeding purposes of my own or allowed to be so used by any other person. I am expected to keep any Doberman in my care secure, and to care for it humanely. The organization is responsible solely for the medical services required to ready the dog for placement (to be dictated by the organization). All other items such as food, toys, collars/leashes are provided by the foster family. Any contact I have with a Doberman in the organization, whether as a foster home or in other volunteer activities, is done at my own risk. We are dealing with the potential for animals to become frightened and who are in unfamiliar surroundings. The possibility that the dog may bite you and/or another person or your companion animals or show other aggressive tendencies is increased. As a volunteer for DPAW, I acknowledge that DPAW is not responsible for any property damage or personal injury suffered by me, members of my household, third parties, or my other companion animals by any DPAW Doberman with whom I come into contact, and I assume all liability for providing adequate controls to prevent such damage or injury. I accept full responsibility for any and all expenses incurred during my tenure as a volunteer, foster, or representative for DPAW, except for those pre-approved by DPAW. If applicable, I will keep records of Dobermans handled, release and adoption forms, monies collected, and expenses incurred for each and every DPAW Doberman. I agree such records are the property of DPAW and that a BoD team member thereof may request to view and/or obtain these records at any time. In the event, I resign as a volunteer, whether voluntarily or by request of DPAW, I hereby agree to return any DPAW dog in my possession and all DPAW records over to DPAW within ten days of the resignation date.Checkbox Field I have accurately completed this form and I have read the warnings and appreciate the risks involved in working with Dobermans and Rescue. I understand that DPAW cannot be responsible for the actions, behaviors, and/or medical condition of the Dobermans that it seeks to rescue, and I agree to assume the risk implicit in working with Dobermans that may have been abandoned, beaten, or otherwise mistreated, neglected or abused, or who may suffer from an illness, condition or disease.First NameLast NameDateSubmit Form
